Dr. William So received Master degree of Music in composition and trumpet performance in 2005 and Doctor of Musical Arts in 2008 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. As a composer, his works have been performed throughout United States, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, South Korea and Scandinavian. His repertory includes works written for various solo, small ensemble, large ensemble, and orchestral performing forces. He is presently a member of the ASCAP (American Society of Composer, Arranger and Publisher), and has also been the recipient of various scholarships, awards, and commissions, such as Carolyn Lott Scholarship for his contribution to compositions on church instrumental music, ASCAPPLUS award from 2005-2011, Honorable Mention at Vanguard Premieres International Composition Competition 2004 etc.. His work O bone Jesu was released in the CD of “Vangurad Premiers Volume 1: 2003 – 2005” on March 2006 with well received.
As a conductor, currently Dr. So serves as orchestral director in various schools, including Wa Ying College, Pui Kiu College (Primary and secondary sections), and PLK Laws Foundation College.
As a teacher, Dr. So served as adjunct professor in music theory, composition and music technology at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, also served as guest lecturer at University of Macau. Currently, he is serving as guest lecturer at Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary and Hong Kong International Institute of Music.
